The Clariden School STEAM Addition
February Construction Update
The Clariden School STEAM Addition is located across the street from Bob Jones Park, just south and west of Grapevine Lake. The new addition will be connected to the existing campus by a covered walkway, matching the existing campus connections. Next to this walkway there will be outdoor dining, partly shaded by the same walkway. The major goal of the design process is the flexible layout of the building.
The program includes a makerspace, science lab, teaching spaces, conference room, and collaboration areas. The building will pursue LEED Gold certification that will focus on reducing energy and potable water consumption, minimizing long-term environmental impact, and providing daylighting to efficiently reduce the cost of lighting. The lobby atrium will serve as the central hub for the Upper School, where the makerspace can spill out into the lobby if needed, as well as direct access to the outdoor courtyard.
